TromaDance 2012 brought together Asbury Park locals, filmmakers and film fans from all over the country for two days of screenings, parties and performance in beautiful Asbury Lanes, by the ocean in New Jersey. The festival hosted a live broadcast from People Who Hate People Radio and a smart, informative discussion from our brilliant panelists James Gunn, Ti West, Roy Frumkes, Tony Timpone and Katha Kato. Vitamin Water and Popchips were on hand to keep the crowds going the whole time, with six hours of short films and two features - dance-fighting epic The FP and futuristic Manborg.

We are pleased to announce that filmmaker Ti West will join James Gunn, Tony Timpone, Roy Frumkes and Katha Cato on the panel at the 13th Annual TromaDance Film Festival, moderated by Lloyd kaufman!
Ti West is best known as the writer and director of House of the Devil (2009), The Innkeepers (2011) and a segment of upcoming horror anthology V/H/S. This year the panel discussion will be extended to 90 minutes to accommodate all the talent and wisdom our guests have to impart on promoting and distributing movies, both historically and currently.

We are pleased to announce that filmmaker James Gunn will be on the panel at the 13th Annual TromaDance Film Festival, the only truly independent film festival that is completely FREE!
James Gunn wrote the cult hit Tromeo & Juliet (1997), the re-imagined Dawn of the Dead (2004), and box office hits Scooby-Doo (2002), and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004). He wrote and directed the acclaimed horror comedy SLiTHER (2006) as well as SUPER (2010) which stars Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page & Liv Tyler. His video game, Lollipop Chainsaw, will be released June 12 on PS3 and Xbox by Warner Interactive.
Gunn joins the panel along with former editor of Fangoria Magazine and Fangoria.com, Tony Timpone, and co-director of the Queens World Film Festival, Katha Kato. Discussion will be moderated by President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger, Lloyd Kaufman. The panel will discuss independent filmmaking at 5pm on Saturday, May 5 at Asbury Lanes.
TROMADANCE FEATURE FILMS ANNOUNCED!

TromaDance is proud to announce the two feature films screening at this year's festival - The FP and Manborg.
The FP tells the story of two gangs locked in a turf war in rural wasteland Frasier Park, in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game Beat-Beat Revolution. The FP is a fury of fierce footwork, triumphant montages and neon street wear, and screens at 7pm on Friday, May 4th.
Manborg, in which a soldier, brought back to life as a cyborg, fights alongside a band of adventurers against demon hordes in a dystopian future. Manborg screens at 9pm on Friday, May 4th.

We are pleased to announce the first tranche of films officially selected for the 13th Annual TromaDance Film Festival, the only truly independent film festival that is completely FREE! This year the festival received a record number of entries from independent filmmakers all over the world, and thirty-six short films have been selected to screen, with feature films still to be announced. The complete list of selected shorts can be found HERE.
TromaDance will be held at Asbury Lanes in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 4th and 5th. All TromaDance screenings are free and with the festival's "No VIP Policy", celebrities and fans are treated equally. Unlike mainstream, elitist festivals like Cannes and Sundance, TromaDance does not charge film makers anything to submit their films.
In addition to the highly diverse films, ranging in genre from comedy to experimental, the festival will also host a discussion panel of independent film legends, who will share their wisdom and secrets to success with the audience. Stay tuned for guest and feature film announcements soon!
As is the tradition, part of the TromaDance 2012 budget is funded by fans. This year the festival is being partially crowd-funded through Kickstarter, and the campaign has raised over $5000. Backers received a variety of exclusive rewards, including signed collectible posters, DVDs, original Toxic Crusaders animation cells and even lunch with Lloyd Kaufman!

The deadline for entries in the 13th Annual TromaDance Film Festival, the only truly independent film festival that is completely FREE, has been extended. The festival has already received a record number of entries from independent filmmakers all over the world however due to the huge groundswell of support, entries will remain open until March 15, 2012. Unlike mainstream, elitist festivals like Cannes and Sundance, TromaDance does not charge film makers anything to submit their films. All TromaDance screenings are free and with the festival's "No VIP Policy", celebrities and fans are treated equally. TromaDance will be held at Asbury Lanes in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 4th and 5th.
As is the tradition, part of the TromaDance budget is funded by fans. This year the festival is being partially crowd-funded through Kickstarter. Tromadance needs your help in supporting the only truly independent film festival that is completely FREE. Unlike mainstream, elitist festivals like Cannes and Sundance, TromaDance does not charge film makers anything to submit their films. All TromanDance screenings are free and everyone, celebrities and fans, are treated equally. No VIP policy! TromaDance screens films from all around the world and represents the best in independent cinema. The 13th edition will be held in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 4th and 5th at Asbury Lanes.

As any self-respecting horror fan should know, the Toxic Avenger is a native of New Jersey. So it should come as no surprise that Troma Entertainment, the studio behind the 1984 cult classic "The Toxic Avenger," has found a home in the Garden State for its annual celebration of underground art and cinema, the Tromadance Film Festival.
After 10 years in Park City, Utah - also the home of the Sundance Film Festival - Tromadance headed east to Asbury Park last year, and it returned to where the city meets the sea this past weekend (April 22 and 23).

all over New Jersey.
Greetings From Tromaville! This past weekend (April 22nd-23rd) the 12th Annual TromaDance Film Festival hit the ground running in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey and never let up. With standing-room only at the screenings and events, both fans and filmmakers from places as far as Michigan, Florida, Montreal and a host of other countries were in attendance to take part in the ONLY truly independent film festival in the world! This year's festival opened with Peaches Christ's "All About Evil." Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson's apocalyptic and original thriller "The Taint" followed, and went on to become one of the most talked-about films at the festival. TromaDance continued at the Brickwall for a packed afterparty sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery.

Day Two began with an exciting slate of live-action and animated short films, including the work of Academy-Award nominated animator Bill Plymton. Mr. Plympton then participated in a panel discussion entitled "Selling Your Movie In the Age of the Digital Revolution." The panel included such film industry luminaries as New York State Film Commissioner Pat Kaufman, "Fangoria" managing editor Michael Gingold, animator John Goras and New York City Horror Film Festival founder Michael Hein. TromaDance founder and President of Troma Entertainment Lloyd Kaufman moderated the lively discussion on how aspiring filmmakers could best take advantage of the Internet in order to successfully promote and sell their work.

started until the end of the closing
night, the theater was packed to
capacity and extrachairs had to be
brought in for the overflow.
Following the panel, TromaDance ended on a high note with a screening of IFC Films' new thriller "Kidnapped," a terrifying story of home invasion from director Miguel Angel Vivas. Afterwards, TromaDance attendees were invited to enjoy bowling and an aggressive performance by the band Psychocharger at historic rock venue Asbury Lanes. This year's TromaDance Film Festival could not have taken place without the tireless efforts of the volunteers and staff, and of course the TromaDance sponsors, including Brooklyn Brewery, G4, Focal Press, Kodak, Metromix New Jersey, Asbury Lanes, The Film and Musicians Secondary Markets Fund, Big Picture Media, Night Flight Comics, and The Showroom, the festival's main venue. In addition to its sponsors, TromaDance was made possible by the hard work and contributions of its invaluable volunteers who helped tremendously by donating their time, energy and enthusiasm for cinema. It is that passion for the filmmaking and film-going experience that embodies the spirit of the TromaDance Film Festival. We look forward to raising the bar even higher for TromaDance 2012.
